Dear Parents,
Fifth grade has settled in nicely after the long summer vacation. We are very busy as you can see from the following:
Religion: we will learn about the Paschal Mystery and Evangelization.
Social Studies: we will be learning about the explorers, colonies, Dutch New York (New Amsterdam)
Science: NY Life Science, the penny experiment and begin classification of organisms
Grammar: editing complete sentences
Composition: we will write stories like The Time Machine and If I were President
Reading: a book report of the mystery genre and continue with stories like "The Gold Coin"
Handwriting: brush up on our script.
Field trips are planned for October 1st to the Hudson River Museum and October 9th to the Ossining Museum and the Aqueduct.
