Grade 8/Math with Mrs. Caporale

Dear Parents,

6th, 7th, and 8th grade Math is up and going!

6th grade has begun Algebra which they are really excited about. They have learned integer order of operations, the coordinate system, and substitution. They will use their knowledge of the coordinate system when they create a pumpkin on Halloween. They will be working on a pie graph of their lives when we begin Unit 2 shortly.

7th grade has been working on integers, exponents, and function tables and will soon learn solving all types of equations. They have been taight by Mr. Komlos, our student teacher. They truly have enjoyed his expertise and mild mannered ways.

The 8th grade has worked on adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing monomials and polynomials. They also have truly enjoyed the stock market project. They chose their favorite stock and "invested" $5000 and monitored it for a month. They could not wait until 4:00 PM to see whether they "made" or "lost" money.

8th grade has also been very busy working on the yearbook. They have had a car wash and will have a Halloween Party for the school to raise funds. They have also gone to quite a lot of businesses to solicit ads. We were also visited by an angel who donated a large sum of money. A million thanks to this wonderful person!

8th grade will be measured for their rings on November 19th. they will be receiving all the information shortly!
